RFID Watchband

RFID Watchband

2020-2021

The RFID watchband project was developed to streamline building access for students, employees, hospital workers, and apartment dwellers. At Georgia Tech, there are various buildings that require a student ID for building access, and this can inconvient for them if their hands are full. to streamline this process, we developed an RFID watchband that could attach to any smartwatch to give them a hands-free method for building access. I copied the low frequency RFID tag from our student ID and pasted it onto an RFID tag. I embedded the RFID tag into a silicone watchband using insert molding techniques.

Skills/Tools used:

  • 3D design using Solidworks

  • Entrepreneurship presentations

  • System design

  • Insert molding

  • Silicone molding

  • RFID cloning

The above presentation is our team's pitch used to win the 2021 Georgia Tech Convergence Innovation Competition. We presented the problem, solution, competitive matrix, market size, target customer, and projected revenue and sales.

The above video depicts our team's pitch used to convey the problem we were trying to solve, the solution we derived, and the overall market conditions for this product.
