Ergonomic Controller

Ergonomic Controller

2014

To control devices and vehicles with a handheld controller, I decided to develop a hand controller to do such with soft potentiometer to vary the speed. The controller needs to be ergonomic as it needs to sit firmly in the hand without causing cramps while operating and controlling an electric vehicle.

Some of the controllers out there on the market today use a joystick to control speed where it is harder to get a precise measurement. That is why I choose the use a potentiometer where, as a user, I could get more precise data to change the speed of my electric vehicle.

As a safety feature, I choose to include a hardware button as a safety switch. The whole design of the button is that, the button needs to be compressed in order for the vehicle to move. This way I attempt to avoid unnecessary accidents that might result in the vehicle moving when it shouldn't.
